In order to join Pakistan Army as a doctor, you must appear in NUMS MDCAT Entry Test which is conducted by National University of Medical Sciences. NUMS is Situated in Rawalpindi. NUMS Conducts two test , One for MBBS /BDS and 2nd For Allied Health Sciences. NUMS Paper Pattern
- NUMS Entry Test Is mandatory for admission to Medical Colleges Affiliated with the National University of Medical Sciences. 150 Marks multiple choice question-based test. With No Negative marking.
- NUMS Entry Test (NET) shall comprise of two components
a. PART ‘A’ (1) Shall carry 95 % weightage of NUMS Entry Test (NET)
- (2) Shall consist of 150 ‘One Best Option Type’ Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with stipulated time of 150 minutes and shall have the following breakdown: –
- (a) Biology – 35 % (55 MCQs)
- (b) Chemistry – 25 % (40 MCQs)
- (c) Physics – 25 % (40 MCQs)
- (d) English – 10 % (15 MCQs)
- (3) Difficulty level for MCQs of Biology, Chemistry and Physics shall be as under:-
- (a) Easy – 25 %
- (b) Moderate – 60 %
- (c) Hard – 15 %Â
b. PART ‘B’ (Psychological Test) (1)Â
- Shall carry 5 % weightage of NUMS Entry Test (NET)
- Shall consist of 100 ‘One Best Option Type’ Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with stipulated time of 30 minutes.

Who can Apply for Paying Cadets?
Paying Cadets are Special Category of Cadets in army medical college and other cmh private medical colleges which is reserved for only Army , Navy , PAF and Civ. Defence Forces families. Civilian Families students can not apply as Paying Cadets.
Difference Between NUMS Cadets and Paying Cadets:
NUMS Cadets are those who got admission in AMC on the basis of NUMS Entry Test . They are civilians and army families students can also take admission as NUMS cadets.Â
- Fee for NUMS Cadets in AMC is 10 Lac Per Year , but Fee of Paying Cadets is almost Half of the NUMS Cadets.(Details given in PC Form)
- NUMS Cadets are civilians in Army Medical Colleges and they don’t get Commission Officer rank upon completion of MBBS / BDS degree , while PC get Captain Rank on Completion of Degree .
